Dr. Alvarez is a medical Specialist in General Psychiatry and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist (United Kingdom). Family and Community Medicine Specialist.
After graduating in Medicine from the University of Salamanca, he was initially trained as a family doctor at the Valle de Hebrón Hospital and La Mina Primary Care Center (Barcelona). Then he trained and practiced as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist in several English-speaking countries including Ireland, Australia and England, obtaining in the latter country, the specialty of medical psychotherapy and the specialty of general psychiatry.
During his professional career, he has maintained a passion for the practice of a genuinely holistic and integrative psychiatry taking into account the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of the human being. This has led him to deepen on the one hand oriental practices and mindfulness to improve mental health, innovative therapies such as EMDR or Brainspotting and the use of psychopharmacology as an adjunct to psychotherapeutic treatment.
